Garage Door Spring Products
Torsion Springs
Also known as torque springs, these are usually installed horizontally just above the header of your garage door. The number of springs used depends upon the size and weight of your door.
These tight springs (appropriately) use torque to lift and close doors with the help of attached cables and wheels. Generally, these springs will give you a life-cycle of 10-15,000 garage door operations (around 5-10 years depending on frequency of use)
There are a few different types of torsion spring including:

Extension Springs
Although these springs use a similar pulley/cable system to do their heavy lifting; they’re located on the sides of the overhead runner tracks your garage door disappears into. They tend to be exposed, so you can easily spot them next time you use your garage door.
Unlike torque springs, these garage door springs will stretch as the door is lifted open, counterbalancing the force of the door. The more force is applied, the further they will extend.
